KRISTINA SARKISOVA, LmSW
Hello! I’m Kristina (she/her/ella), a multi-cultural, bilingual (English/Español) queer, neurodivergent and trauma-sensitive psychotherapist and social worker. I see adult (18+) clients based anywhere in Texas virtually. My practice is Neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ affirming and rooted in anti-oppressive frameworks including Anti-Racism, Body Liberation, and Disability Justice.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
Effective therapy facilitates neuroplasticity – the brain’s ability to learn and change, no matter what we’ve been through. I find that incredibly hopeful. I’m passionate about supporting and facilitating neuroplasticity in clients who are navigating life transitions, losses (death or non), trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, identity questions, and relational struggles.
I also find it very fulfilling to work through an anti-ableist and non-medical-model lens with people living with disabilities, chronic illness and/or chronic pain. I know first-hand how challenging it can be to sustain a loss of health, and I consider it a privilege to support you in the many ways this may be impacting your life.
I see my role as helping you to re-connect with and trust your own knowing - something which trauma and conditioning can often cut us off from. As a therapist I am warm, playful, and both gentle and direct. My approach is compassionate, non-pathologizing and grounded in Neurobiology, Attachment, Parts Work, and Somatics. This means I work with how feelings, beliefs, and trauma are held in the body; allowing us to process and heal in real time instead of stopping at intellectual understanding.
